Don't hold your breath. Not likely. Wouldn't want to bring reproach on precious Jehovah.

Divergent is a more complicated "1984", but still could perfectly describe cults
by ILoveTTATT ini just watched the movir divergent and all i could think about was how similat it was to describing cults.
instead of being a black and white "us vs them" it's more of a multicolored cult vs cult vs a "overlord cult"... phrases such as "faction over family" and "we can't run the risk of everyone thinking on their own" (that one was paraphrased) brought chills to my spine.... it's such a good movie!!
i really recommend it!.

I havent seen it yet, but Mrs Dazed read through all the books in 3 weeks. I am more than 2/3s through the first book. I can't wait to see it. I will see it before I finish the book.... oh well.
I'm not a big fan of reading.... maybe thats why I really left the troof...

I feel for you. Report back every interesting thing you learn now that your eyes and mind are truly open.
Or if you are one of those guys who wear the ear device, I think its to test the sound?, just replace the device with an mp3 player and play The Thinking Atheist podcasts and enjoy.

I have made my decision
by Brother Mike ini'm sure most of you have read bits and pieces of my story throughout the last year being on this site.
i've decided as a human being, and as an adult, i'm going to make the decision on whether to stay with the jw religion or leave it.
i of course have many doubts about the organization which has lead me to do research.

Two years should be enough time to prepare yourself for the possible heartless reactions of your immediate family. I wish you luck. As far as we can know, this is the only life we have. It’s short. Be happy. Be healthy. Be loving and be a little selfish from time to time. Good luck. I’m happy for you.
It took me 27 years in the cult to wake up and come out. I have never been happier being free from it. When you look back at this decision, I’m sure you will feel the same.

What was the most rebellious thing you did while you were a devout jw?
by DuvanMuvan ini was just thinking about how humans being imperfect and satan's influence was the root of everything bad that anyone has ever done.
well i know that apparently everyone is vulnerable which got me thinking about what "bad" things people have done while they were a jw.
i'll start it off.

I got drunk at 19 while at my future in-law’s house. Proceeded to pull the neighbor's Christmas lights off his house (it was the middle of July) and then proceeded to piss on said neighbors front door. All the while my future father-in-law laughed from his front door. Then found my way back into the house and threw up on the living room floor… True story. Mrs. Dazed and I married a few months later.
This was 11 years ago. Have I mentioned, I celebrated 3 years sobriety in December.

I like Russel Crowe. I will watch it if nothing else for the entertainment value. I like movies based on actual events.
